Catalyst

A catalyst is something

That stays the same

While changing all around it.

A person can be a catalyst

Changing all those around him

But not being affected by the change

Or is that true?

Can a person be totally unchanged

By interactions with others?

Maybe the catalyst believes so

Maybe the change is not easily perceived

For days, weeks or even years

But somehow, at some time

The change will emerge

The change is there

It may be one thought

One action that he didn’t anticipate

One glance that sees what was never seen before

He might not even understand the action

The influence can be that subtle

Or unappreciated then or even now

People change all the time

Not noticeably or perhaps slowly or rapidly

But the change is always there, until the last breath
