(as inspired by Elizabeth)
A very thin veneer of dry sand
Laid upon its wetted cousins
The wind tosses and shapes the dry, white sand
Constantly undulating into new forms
Ribbon of sand much as a stream of water
Danced upon top of the hard-packed base
The base allowing the veneer to play
To continually change and shift its face, its contour
Our eyes were barely able to perceive
And to process the beauty of the shapes
Before another shape was formed
A wondrous and intriguing change of images
Might this be an allegory for a good life?
A strong base such as the wetted sand to stand upon
And the drier sands changing and reshaping of our perceptions
All to sustain us in one manner and to renew us in another?
Can the ever-changing dry sands represent a current thought or perception
Can the wetted and hard packs sand be the basis of our character?
Can examining nature lead us to understanding of ourselves?
Or even of others?
