Pacific

 The ocean is vast

The ocean is beautiful

The ocean stretches    

Beyond eye-sight and comprehension

The clouds reach from the water

To the heavens

The clouds are bathed with sunlight

The clouds are wet with rain

There is nothing on the horizon

But more ocean

And sun

And clouds

What a startling contrast

No other breathing beings

No other construct of mankind

Only the work of nature

 The beauty of the ocean

Lies in times before us

And after us

The eternal we think we desire

 We can only possess

A fraction of the time

Of eternity

That is the ocean
